His odyssey from a revered Infantry Paratrooper to a charismatic instructor in the United States Army exemplifies a life steeped in dedication and an unyielding spirit to empower others.
Before embracing the tranquil yet potent world of martial arts, Jesse carved a niche for himself at the USARAK NCO Academy on Fort Richardson, Alaska, earning the accolade of the top-rated instructor for three consecutive years. His exceptional prowess saw him clinch the illustrious FY18 3rd Quarter USARAK NCO of the Quarter board title, a feat among 1,900 eligible NCOs within Alaska.
A New Chapter
Retirement opened the gates to a new battlefield for Jesse—Jiu-Jitsu. His indomitable spirit found a new home in the dojo, where as a retired MMA fighter and a committed Jiu-Jitsu brown belt under the tutelage of Professor Jordan Kontra at Legacy Jiu-Jitsu in Anchorage, Alaska, Jesse’s journey metamorphosed into that of a lifelong learner.
Jesse’s intellectual quest led him to Alaska Pacific University. Here, his passion for Outdoor Studies, with a focus on Adventure Therapy, intertwined with his martial arts journey. He pioneered a groundbreaking Jiu-Jitsu curriculum rooted in the Experiential Learning Model and Kolb Learning Method.
Jesse’s vision transcends the dojo. He aspires to elevate Alaska Jiu-Jitsu into the annals of academic recognition, making it the first academically accredited Jiu-Jitsu institution. His extensive endeavor in crafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and aiding the USARAK NCO Academy to gain accreditation has bestowed upon him a rich understanding of the rigorous standards required to mold a crucible of exemplary training and facilities.
